1990 560SEL - going for high performance brakes or OEM?

Hi guys,

Gotta replace the rotors and pads for my recently purchased 560SEL.

Should I buy from MB dealer or go another way:

Brembo rotors +

Pagid Front Disc Brake Pad
Part Number: PAG1843175
is oem quality

or go for
Hawk Performance Front Disc Brake Pad
Part Number: HB207F.580

Race or street?

Are there any reasons not to go for performance pads?

The stock brakes on the 126 are truly amazing, especially considering that the car weighs over 2 tons. If I were you, I'd stick to OEM, unless the performance stuff isn't much more expensive and is well known to be good. You pretty much can't go wrong with brembo, ate, pagid or akebono.

I'm also being told how great it the OEM considering the car's weight.

It would be a 100$ investment to upgrade for street performance pads, is there any drawback to go for higher end performance pads?

The trade off for performance is often loss of longevity.

No problem. Check out the w126 chassis section of this site if you have any more questions or have any problems. (your car is a 126) In case you didn't know.
