Hello everybody !
I'm a "new" member, a medic, so, not a professional of mechanics/body work/conversion but dropped inside in the cradle...
Born in Brussels just after WW II, raised in Europe, living World Wide. Mercedes Benz's user since 40years.
280SE end sixties, Universal SW 230S converting to 280SE early sixties, 280S seventies, Unimog 404 ex belgian army ambu, 300SE SW 4matic 80ties, VW LT35 4x4 Iglhaut (the best of the best in german van AWD conversion) high top medium lenght van ( Sprinter sistership) factory motorised 2.8Litres 4cyl TDI MWM & now Mercedes 903series Sprinter 312 TD 4x4 PU Twin Cab long bed, still all factory, dutch origin & a 2d 312 similar but van, UK origin (right hand drive) for parts, or ?
Meanwhile, my preferred everyday vehicle is a VW Transporter short base, low top, fast, manageable, just big as a regular car. Bigger, no way to find a parking place in the crowded cities. During the winter time syncro drive, fulltime AWD: fantastic !
The 312: for fast, far trip purpose, fast on the highways & enough traction on tracks & bad grounds, not a true truck for an off road use vs Unimog for instance. I'll try to keep the vehicle's rough conversion as low as possible to keep a low consumption at high speed: anyway not a big/high camper in the back...
Members they have/are concerned in such a 312 4x4 or Sprinter/Sprinter clone AWD factory or conversion up to 7.5Ton, or even AWD the same use (Steir-Puch, Iveco, Renault, Dangel, etc...) welcome on the forum.
For the moment, I'm not busy with heavy trucks: the reason why: high fuel consumptions, high taxes & limits in speed, acces, etc... But I love them, especially those with off road capabilities.
NB: I understand Fr & Nl too. Sorry for some language's errors: Engl is not my mother's language...
