Start off by using a deep conditioner like leatherique rejuvenator or lexol, (after cleaning,) and then if you want to continue on your own, look into leather crack fillers and dyes. I hear filling cracks and dying is usually best left to the pros, since it can be fairly obvious if done incorrectly, but I have seen people do it themselves with great results. Check out this place if you're considering farming out the job, I hear they do pretty good work, and they come to you for the estimate and job.
