2005 model SL500 or SL600?

I'm considering purchase of a SL500 or SL600. Both models are 2005 and both are under 50k original miles. Both have 2 previous owners and are in excellent condition with all service records and a clean CarFax report.

I've heard that the SL500 is the better option because:
1. The V8 provides ample power considering the weight of the car
2. The V12 in the SL600 is expensive to maintain and very expensive to repair

I've also heard that both of these models have a history of expensive repairs, especially in the hydraulic and electrical systems.

Would appreciate your comments, recommendations, opinions, etc. I currently drive a 2005 low mileage Infiniti G35 which has been trouble free. However, I hear the Benz calling to me! Thanks very much in advance for your time and expertise.

Reads like you've got the picture and perhaps the axiom "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" may apply as regards the V12.

Might also want to consult with your insurance agent regarding coverage price difference.

From what I've read the torque generated by the V-12 is incredible. But dealer techs have told me they ALL start to leak oil soon after the warranty expires and the oil cooler is a very expensive part. Go for the SL500 unless money is no object.

The SL500 has ample power and is significantly cheaper to maintain & repair.
However both have the dreaded ABC system.

Neither will hold a candle to your Infiniti for trouble-free ownership.
You have been warned!
