What would you buy? Opinion please.

I have a stunning red W116 which had an engine change and is my daily drive. I have the opportunity to buy another car. The choices are:

A fully restored and immaculate W108 250S, manual column shift which looks like it left the factory yesterday. $12500

A W201 190E 2.3 (not 2.3-16) Dark red with beige cloth. Automatic. $9000
Actually there are a bunch of red 190Es (1.8) but I mentioned the one above because it has a 2.3 motor.

I live in Thailand. The prices are ok for this market.

Please help me decide between a classic and a more practical, more modern car. At the end of the day if I have to sell them, I'll probably get less value for the 190E and perhaps the same (or more) for the 250S but it will be a lot harder to find a collector for that.

20 years ago in California the classic market was huge.
But in last decade with new cars offering ABS, air bags, navigations and bluetooth nobody wants to drive classic where AC likes to be intermittent.
I think advise from different market is not going to be too accurate and predicting the car value in the future is always a gamble.
Good luck on your choice.

Do you still have the W126 too? If so I'd add the W108 so you have a full range of years to suit your moods and drives, since the W126 is still a relatively modern car. If you only have the W123 at present I'd buy the 190e just for peace of mind and a daily driver that you can just hop in and go.

I'd buy a 108 250S, such beautiful cars.

Smile Bought my car

Thank you for your replies and suggestions dear members. I finally bought a 1999 reg. C36 AMG in mint condition with only 69000 km on the clock. I think I got very very lucky!

Black on black leather - all options - new tyres!
I'll get the car on Tuesday and will post photos.
