Hi again. I tied it on S class W220 320CDI (2005) and W211 e270 CDI (2004). I used to diagnose them with old C3 and DAS (the same laptop and same installation).
I don’t see BIN folder on my F: PROGRAMME/DAS/…. I did a search on the laptop drives cal.ini cannot be found.
The software was not installed by me. I purchased HDD with soft installed Xentry 11-2011 DAS…. Then they gave me the key for Xentry. It works OK with old C3. Frustrating is , I still don’t know is it MUX , setup or software installation ????

The bin-folder is hidden by default. You should either change folder settings or from search tick the option to include hidden folders.

Hello, it was very nice Sunday weather today, so I spend some time outside and played with SD. I have successfully connected today. Using green cable. I got MUX and car “talking” to each. Hurray ! When to quick test….. and my car battery got flat… damn… . Pretty wired why it went down so fast. Now charging the car battery.
So, the conclusion for now is. MUX is not blocked as suggested before. I think, there is a “conflict” between my software and MUX, because otherwise it would be much easier to make it work. MUX has also some issues (drains batteries two fast, menu options like POWER OFF, REBOOT… don’t work, Wiress connection drops) and most probably it will go back to the source.
My cal.ini goes like this:
[PATH]
DRIVER=.\Driver
CBF=..\comdat\
CFF=..\comdat\
CFG=..\comdat\
SIM=..\comdat\
CCF=..\comdat\
CENTRAL_GBF=.\gbf
smart = ..\smart\
FLASH =C:\USERDATA\csd\writefil\flash\temp
[REGISTRY]
UNIT_KEY = SOFTWARE\DAS\UNIT
UNIT_DISTANCE = REG_KM

[SERVER]
REPORT=0
PLATFORM=PART_W
TRACE_CONFIG = 0
CAESARMEM = 0
;TOOLKIT =1
TOLLKIT =1
CPULOADREDUCTION=
PASSTHRU_SELECT_ALLOWED = 0
CAESAR_DEBUG_LEVEL = 0

[PKWFehlerArt]
QUALIFIER=ENVTYPE_

[EvobusFehlerArt]
QUALIFIER=ENVTYPE_

[KW2N_HOURS]
QUALIFIER=ENV_Betrieb

[MONITORING]
MONITORING = ALL
MODE = DAS_CONTROLLED

[SHORTTEST]
;LOG_SHORTTEST_QUEUES = 1;
;WRITE_SHORTTEST_SUMMARY = 1;

I’m not very happy with the soft installation. Windows deletes my connection IP configuration and every time I switch the laptop on it comes back to Obtain IP automatically therefore MUX is not connecting automatically when cable is plugged in. I need sort out this one, too.
By the way my Wireless also works but it breaks connection frequently, so probably MUX issue again or my DELL wireless adaptor? Thank you for your support. If you have any further comments I would be glad to hear.

Was the mux connected to a car/power supply when you tried to switch it off?

I guess it does not make sense to try and figure out SW problems if the mux does not behave well. Anyway quite funny when your software provider has copied spelling mistakes to your cal.ini file from a file that has been shared at some forums.

Do you have a WLAN access point to test how your laptop WLAN card works? You might want to try another WLAN card at the SDconnect unit too. Have you checked the brand and type you currently have? Have you tested your mux batteries if they are good?

Hi, Thank you again for not leaving me alone … in a dark room.
MUX was connected to a car when try to POWER OFF. Six batteries are fully charged by external charger. When inside SD they go down very fast. Yesterday when I was testing it on the car it drained my car battery completely. I had to charge the car battery this morning.
I don’t understand your comments about cal.ini. Honestly, software is my week point. I can only do something with it when guided by experts. Therefore I was hoping that the guy who sold me HDD with MB soft will be more helpful. He is sending me some stuff by email which I do not quite understand. My profession is graphic designer and I use different soft on advanced user level. Cars and motorbikes is my hobby. Some say I’m mad…
Your suggestion to try via access point is good I will do that. Although, the HDD guy told me not to connect to the Net as this may corrupt his software ????? I’m scared to open the SD unit and change WLAN card. This unit ( I hope) is under warranty and I’m close to the decision to send it back to China. I’m negotiating this option with the supplier, but he told me to exercise all possible revenues before I send the unit back.
Few more questions, if you don’t mind. Can I switch over the connection options from wire do wireless ? If cal.in is set to –W how can I use wire, then? Do I need to change cal.ini every time. How does it work? At present my MUX goes to wireless mode automatically when powered up. I would be happy to use wireless only, but in my case it is very unstable (on and off at the time). Many Thanks!

Unfortunately I cannot double-check with the mux because I'm travelling this week but I thought you cannot switch the mux off when it is connected to a car.

You did not provide any proof that your batteries are good. You may have new batteries but even new batteries may be bad. You should try to charge them fully and then load them properly to test how well they can supply current and how long. Try to use at least 0.5 A load for the test. Or try a new set of batteries.

It is a good idea not to connect your laptop to internet but for different reasons than your SW getting corrupt, if the SW has been properly configured. But you can use another hard drive to test the laptop just to test the WLAN interface.

Since you have inserted charged batteries to your mux, you've already done everything that can affect warranty, if removing the WLAN card from the mux would do that (when you remove batteries, the WLAN card is there and you can remove and reinstall it without any signs left that you did it).

The mux should work with a car with one cal.ini setting, both with the LAN and the WLAN connection (I've understood that exceptions exist) but now your setting is for WLAN.

Thanks again for your kind suggestions. I bought new rechargeable batteries. It did help! I would never suspect new batteries to fail, but is is exactly what happened here. New batteries charged fully and MUX stays powered up for over 5 minutes. I cannot put power down. I looks like the switch on the front panel does not work. Pressing it has no effect. Is this normal? The mux goes down itself after approx. 5 minute. How does it work on yours? Cheers.

Referrng back to post #7, this is explained on one of the documents you can find from your computer (could be covered by several documents). See what you can find behind the I-icon.

I certainly can power down the tool if I want to. It does switch off automatically if not in use and does not have any power feed.
