Howdy. First time poster. Just bought a 2002 S55 AMG. And already screwed it up.
I feel like an idiot. I really do.
I bought a 2002 S55 on Saturday. It seemed to be a very good price on a project car!
Everything worked, but it had a CEL and high miles (167K). The codes weren't a big deal, one for the common EGR error, and one for the throttle position sensor. Easy fix, clean a tube, replace the valve if necessary, and replace the gas pedal assembly.
So today, the ABC - Visit Workshop warning came on. I did my reading, found a LOT of information about ABC that I wasn't aware of, cleaned the top of the reservoir and went to pull the dipstick to check the oil.
First thing you would do, isn't it?
Well, the dipstick seems to be SOLIDLY in place, so I apply a little more tug, and the thing let loose suddenly. And snapped 3/4ths of the dipstick off.
Which seems to be somewhere in the bottom of a DEEP reservoir.
Is it safe to drive at all? Should I tow the car to Mercedes, and pay the piper for my idiocy?
Anyway, a new MB owner joining the boards. Space is provided below for laughter and ridicule.
