High Beam Assist Problem

I have a 2011 E350 Wagon with the High Beam Assist option and have found that this function becomes inoperable (throws an error message) when the car is subject to freezing temperatures.

If I leave the car in the garage and let it warm to 40 or 50 degrees(F)...the issue goes away (no error message) and the high beam assist is again operable.

Any ideas on what might be happening here? Why would the cold cause this system to stop working?

Thanks, in advance for your input.

Never heard that. You might get better feedback from the W212 forum. Have you looked at the sensor area if there could be some moisture that freezes and blocks visibility from the camera? The camera unit should be mounted "air tight" to the windshield with dry air inside.

Wouldn't that be covered by the warranty? Just wondering...

Thanks the for the input on the camera, Diesel Benz...I'll look at that today...

Rabbit 188, Yes this is covered by warranty, and the local dealer has been fantastic...but it's one of those problems that doesn't show when you bring the car in for service.

I'm just trying to get some ideas to share with the dealer the next time it goes in.

Thanks again...
