Post Introductions of a 2000 C230

Dear BenzWorld Experts,

I'm a new poster but a long time user of this forum. I have very little expertise but hope solving my problems will help others. My car is a 2000 C -230. I'm also a budding DYI guy. My only real issue with the car is I bought one a little too small for my growing family any other issues were problems I caused or something I neglected.

I need a little help. My driver's side mirror glass popped out. I removed the cover after finding instructions here, and reinstalled the glass. The one thing different is when my mirror comes off I have the screw drives and center mounting attached to the mirror not just a mirror. My problem is making the mirror stay secure. The 2 drive screws that move the mirror are in place. The center toggle looks in place but I can't see if it's completely inserted. I attemtped to remove the extra hardware from the mirror to install the hardware and then the mirror but could not remove everything from the glass.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreicated. Also is there a maintainance manual that might show this step by step

Thanks

SC

Yes, That diagram was the only way I got the housing off. Now my issue is securely attaching the mirror to the controls. The adjustment screws fit into the proper holes but the center attachment doesn't seem to stay in place. Any suggestions other push harder? I thought about a bigger hammer but my wife said maybe not!

You do need to apply quite a lot of pressure to attach them, but maybe the clips are broken already, inspect them closely.

My mirror is back in palce and works fine. The problem appears to be the inside clip that holds the adjustment screw in place seems to be worn so that when I close the door the adjustment screw pulls loose allowing the mirror to bang against the outside of the frame and popping the mirror out of the center pin. Do you think I can repalce the clip?

Thank you for your help! My next project is brakes!

I do not think MB sell this little part, try the scrap yards.
