MB Newbie--Graciously requesting E350 Bluetec info.

Good day all...new member here...have always been a Japanese motor car fan (specifically Nissan/Infiniti), but have been been toying with the idea of going diesel for a few years now. However, I am about to upgrade from a 2008 G-35S model and debating b/t 2012 M37 or 2012 M35h (yes, I am aware that these ARE NOT diesel automobiles) and the 2012 E350 Bluetec (yes, apples and oranges). I love the idea of the MB diesel engine's longevity and the luxury as well as the solid build and safety, BUT uncertain of the OVERALL long-term reliability of the E-class. In contrast, I am well aware of the low-maintenance Infiniti line and have been pleased with them over the years. I've never owned a German motor car and have heard of financial nightmares associated with owning one. Will those of you who can spare a few moments of your valuable time-- please help me decide on German or Japanese? What are the hidden costs associated with owning a diesel and/or MB? Is it worth the investment?

Much obliged,

Sir Lennox

Welcome to Benzworld, MB can be an expensive car to own, but this really applies to MB that is out of warranty.
