Buying a European spec c/e class and export to Asian country
Hi, I'm interested in purchasing a c or e class (probably the c180 or e180/200, since imprto taxes get even more ridiculous when you gt anove 1800cc's) and exporting it to Asia. I have a few questions though which I'm hoping the brain trust here will be able to answer before I jump in.
My local dealership is absolutely useless. Even though they are official dealership it's ridiculous they have no idea how to do this as it seems they are more infested in selling used Mercs so I figure why not do this myself if it's possible. I live in canada and the dealership here is also uninterested in doing any of this stuff.
I am currently in canada and obviously can't export from here since I need a rhd.
So here's the questions:
-my main question is this: if I am going to be exporting, what do you guys think is the best place to buy it in terms of price? I checked and uk has great prices actually, but then I pay vat and co2 tax etc. is it possible to have a German dealership order me a Benz for export, so it's made as a rhd, and hopefully I'll avoid paying vat and other taxes in two countries and just pay my local import taxes.
-If the consensus is that Germany would be the cheapest place to buy then is there a preferred dealership?
-I know in canada there's a lot of room to negotiate from the sticker price. Is this true in Europe as well? Any suggestions on what I should be aiming for prices for c/e class 180 post negotiations with taxes?
- should I get a brand new c/e class or would you guys suggests something slightly used. By slightly I mean maybe 5-10k, 2011 models, or even just slightly anove the 12k since Mercs I think go in for their first major checkup at that mileage. Is the price saving worth it to go used (I'll be through dealership preferably not open market) or would I rather pay the higher price for any potential peace of mind.
-the shape: I know the c class went through slight change in2011 with people syaing the innards have also majorly been refined, and the current e class has been this shape since 2008. Are there major design changes expected soon? I'd like to have the latest shape though and hopefully it will last a while. That's why even if I go used I'd rather pick from the 2011 models.
-anything else I should be thinking about?
