New to these parts

Hey everyone,

I'm new here and I'm not quite sure if I'll be around or not. The thing is, is I'm looking to purchase an 80's 300SD. Right now I'm looking at an 83 300 turbodiesel and it only has 230,000 miles. The body is in great shape and I drove it around town and on the highway fine. The only thing I'm concerned with is that it takes it forever to get up to speed and it literally crawls up hills if you don't already have some speed. The linkage on the transmission might be messed up too because he showed me the receipt where it was rebuilt less than 50,000 miles ago but when you drive the car it hits some pretty high rpms and if you let off it bumps kind of hard into the next gear? Is this normal that it doesn't have that much power or speed to it or would there be something I could do to give it a little more speed?

Welcome to Benzworld, avoid this particular car and carry on looking. It is not normal.
