1993 300SL, garnet/almandine red over parchment, AMG wheels original

Hi, I've done a couple posts but saw this forum to formally introduce the new old car (NOC!). Was fortunate to get to a trade-in at the Santa Barbara Auto Group before anyone else.

As you can see, they gave it showroom space. Although it was the least expensive car on the floor (the other half was Porsche), they gave us the garnet carpet treatment and generally made the experience a five-star day.

I also learned another word for garnet (almandine) from inside the EPC. I notice a lot of people have customized their cars, but I like this one for its originality. I really like the wheels, which apparently were on the car new as an option. It's just a relaxed, low key sleeper... although it is incredibly stable/boring to go 100+ mph. Acceleration is ok our turbo Saab is faster. It was a cool surprise to hear the personality change in the SL exhaust note at around 5000 rpm. You could even say it roared.

A source of great amusement (?) is trying to understand how a car (and wheels) can be this old (close to 19 years old) and still be in such good shape.

In my reading about I found a video that has this same car (and wheels). See 0:39 time mark.
