Satellite Radio

Just received an XM radio receiver for Christmas... I own a c300 (2011) with premium sound and navigation package. My understanding is that with this package, I am already satellite radio ready. However, I am wondering if the set-up is a simple plug and play or if I will still need to get it installed at the dealer/audio specialist.

If it is plug and play, what steps do I take to link the satellite radio to the car's audio system?

Thanks!

Ok, seems things get more interesting... despite the fact that I have the premium audio package it doesn't seem that my car is satellite radio ready. I followed the instructions in the owners manual and there was no satellite radio menu that shows up on my Command system/menu.

So, I am now debating between two options:

1) Going to the dealer to have sat radio installed/added to Command system (although after digging a little bit on the internet it seems like this is quite a pricey installation at the dealer...).

2) Using the external Xm satellite receiver (that I received as a gift today) and connecting it through the aux. input in the glove box.

I would be curious to hear what others in my position have opted for and what the final cost was. Also, for those who are using external units, are there any major drawbacks?

About the only drawback would be that the radio would not be controlled via the COMAND controller or steering wheel, although volume/mute would be.
