1980 380SEL stalling problem

I have a 1980 380SEL. It fires right up, idles for about 2 seconds, then dies. Eventually it stays running, but you can't step on the gas or it will die. Once it's warmed up and will drive, it dies at random. It also doesn't seem to have the power that it should. I bought it from a student in the auto mechanics program at the local technical college. He did a tune up on it (plugs, wires, cap, timing, etc). He said he drove it to IL one time and it started acting up after that (700 mile round trip). I have 12 volts at the fuel pump and it seems to be working fine. I have a dvd manual. The troubleshooting on that told me to test the idle air controller. It tested fine. I was thinking maybe low fuel pressure, but I don't know - I'm not a Mercedes mechanic. I've worked on cars all my life but there's a lot of doodads on this one that I don't recognize and I can't read the German. But I really like the car and want to drive it. Is there any way to test for the low fuel pressure? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, there is. If anything, that car has considerably fewer doodads than most, but I digress...

Read here about how the injection system operates:

Thank you for your response! I read the information and will check out the fuel system.
