Greetings to all...
First time MBZ owner and thrilled to have found a place where so much valuable information and advice is readily available. Frankly, I am awed at the amount of knowledge I have read through in such a short time, and look forward to talking with you all more as I work to restore a '78 280CE to top condition.
A little about myself, I'm a fifteen year US Navy veteran formerly working in Ballistic Missile Defense but now having converted to JAG to kick off a career in law. Back in San Diego, CA, after a five year hiatus at Pearl Harbour, HI. I grew up in Saudi Arabia where I came to know MBZ vehicles up close since that is what most of the locals and expats seemed to drive when it came to high end cars. I tend to stick to older cars, and my other classic is a 1956 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special (a real boat, probably why I chose a coupe this time around for a Benz). Spent months looking through the ads for a 450 SL/SLC (both childhood favourites), but stumbled upon the 280 and fell for it right away. The fuel economy is only slightly better, but I've found I enjoy the W123 types as much as the R107 even if it is a bit underpowered at times(though I must admit I wouldn't turn down a clean SL roadster; the former is merely within my price range).
Again, it's a pleasure to be here. I'll get some pics up soon, too.
