Hi, I'm Jon. I found an '03 CLK320 with only 19100 miles on it. If all goes well, I should be picking it up by next Wednesday. This car is beautiful in silver with light grey leather (at least, I think it's leather).
There's a trans. fluid leak, coming from an electrical switch on the side of the transmission (which I verified myself with the car in the air). I don't know what this switch does, but I've been told that it is a very common cause of leaks on these cars and that the design of the seal(s)/switch has been revised a few times since. So, I'm having them change that out (I don't know if they have to change the whole switch, or just the seal[s]), along with a fluid flush and pan gasket change. Also, replace the trans. fluid filler cap thats missing.
I may have them do an oil and filter change while I'm there...I can only assume it's never been done. The MFD (is that correct?) is telling me "B" service exceeded by xx months, I don't remember how long.
Other than that, the car is as perfect as anything in its league I could ever hope to get my
greasy hands on.
The only thing I'll miss is built-in satellite radio and bluetooth. And, I DON'T think I'll be ponying up $875. to upgrade the factory radio.
Especially when I have some very nice Alpine aftermarket hardware already laying around (with XM and bluetooth). Best thing about that is I believe the factory CD changer is also made by Alpine...so I'm thinking it should either plug right in, or at least be easily adapted.
The only other thing I noticed is that 1-malfunction is displayed, and it says that Telenav, or whatever it's called, is not activated. I have a perfectly good cell phone and I have no plans to subscribe to this system. As such, is there any way to "satisfy" the malfuction message, so it doesn't come back?
