changeing rear spheres

the back end of my 1999 E300 td is bouncing up and down like a pogo stick so its time to replace the rear spheres looks like a fairly easy job but the oil and filter look very dirty so i will replace that as well i am thinking that if i run the engine when i have the pipes disconected it will pump out all the old oil and if i put a bit of fresh oil when the tank is almost empty in it will flush out all the old muck from the pipework can any one tell me if this will work or is it better to put the return pipe with the filter on it in to a bucket to empty the system before i disconect anything also when i fit the replacement spheres will i need to bleed them to remove any air that may have got in the pipes and fill the spheres with oil, any advise most welcome thanks ian
