hello to all, i have an issue that i would appreciate some help

i have a 1999 500sl with the bose system, lately when i turn on the radio on cold mornings it sounds as though the speakers are blown, however once the car warms up the speakers and sound quality are perfect. i switched out the radio in dash and still have the problem, have checked out the speakers and they are fine. ive been told its the amp. i looked all over and the only thing that looks like the amp is behind the drivers seat. i was told it was in the trunk. cannot locate anything but cd changer....... any thoughts on location and if the amp is a common problem? thanks from a new member
