Luxury green/sustainable cars?

Hi everyone,

I'm a student at MIT and am currently working on a class project to identify people's perceptions of sustainability in the luxury car market. I'm interested to find out what you think of alternative engine (hybrid, f-cell, etc) luxury cars.

This forum provides an excellent opportunity for my research because all of you are MB/luxury car enthusiasts and very knowledgeable. I have prepared a short 10-question survey and would really appreciate if you could take just 5 minutes to complete it. Your feedback will add a lot of value to my research. The survey link is below:

What do you think about sustainable luxury cars? (G)

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I'm a proud MB owner myself

Hi Green,
I took your poll. Good luck with it.

I just wanted to offer my 2 cents on green cars. Luxury or not.

My business partner recently bought a Chevy Volt. For the 1st month or so he was so happy that he was spending so little on gas (even after having spent so much for what amounts to a Chevy Malibu). Then he got his electric bill and almost had a heart attack. Like many, he forgt that plugging your car into an electric outlet doesn't reduce your carbon footprint. The electricity desn't come from the magic green electricity fairy. Here in Texas, like a majority of the US, we get our electricity from COAL!

Lie my thoughts on oing solar for my home, I will consider an alternative car when it becomes truly practical to do so. Not because Al Gore deceitfully suggests that the Polar bears are dying because of me.

I got stuck on question #2.
There is no option for GREEN diesel owners.
I drove 40 mpg pickup truck 20 years ago, yet the politicians didn't classify it as a green car.
