1997 E300 Turbo Diesel?

I'm on the hunt for a 98/99 e300 turbo diesel. Just today on Craigers I saw a local ad up for a 1997 with a turbo. I have not had a chance to go look under the hood for a turbo, but it definitely does have the TURBO DIESEL badge on the trunk lid.

The VIN is: WDBJF20F6VJ025682

I tried the VIN online and it definitely seems to come up as 97 - anyone want to verify?

Any thoughts? Were there any 1997 TDs built for the U.S.?

There have not been any normally aspirated diesels sold by MB in the US since 1981, thus yes. the '97 would also be a turbo.

See our W210 forum for more direction.

Not per my knowledge.
1996 and 1997 E300 were NA diesels
1998 and 1999 turbo diesels.

Interesting. Why they went back to an NA engine is beyond me.
