Question Differences between services

Please help me clarify the differences between an oil change and an A service, and between the A and B services. What's the range of miles between these flexible services?

I just acquired a 98 E320 and while there are no wrenches appearing in my dash I'd like to be better informed when they do.

Thanks, everyone!

Please cruise to the 210 forum, my friend. The wisdom you seek can be found there.

GENERALly speaking, the lettered services include minor work, mostly inspections, but always an oil and filter change. You can do the inspections yourself, but don't ignore them.

Also, different dealers and different shops play some variation on the lettered services as to additional services. Finally, some things (like brake fluid and coolant) are based on years, not mileage or lettered services.

You'll see this in the 210 forum, but if the locking tab on your transmission filler tube is black, get the thing in for an AT service (NOT at the dealer, they don't have the right fluid anymore) as soon as you can coordinate it.

Good luck and we'll see you in the 210 forum.
