Reliability??????????

84 Chevy Corvette is known for junk wiring, I had 2 of them and they are really......
BUT 25 years old Corvette is not even close to super junk 15 years old Mercedes C220 where wires have no insulation, because it fell off!!!
First they install junk harness, then they make money selling replacement for about $1000!!!
I am thinking about suing Mercedes.
Do you think your car is reliable?

The early 92-94 model Mercedes S class had biodegradable wiring harnesses which fall apart over time. I'm assuming the C class has a similar (although much more simple) wiring harness. $1000 isn't bad at all compared to wiring harness repair bills I've seen with the S class...

You wont be able to sue Mercedes for it either... It's been tried already for this particular wiring harness issue on the S class and it didn't get very far.

I had an 87' Mercedes 420SEL which I believe was one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. I now have a 97' S420 which was properly maintained with all service records from day one. It has the revised wiring harness so there is nothing major to worry about. It runs and drives like a new car and yes I believe that this 14 year old car will be one of the most reliable used cars I've ever owned. Routine maintenance is a MUST on any Mercedes though.

The wiring harness replacement is a simple DIY job; not a big deal at all.
