Angry Coolant drainage in 420 SEL

Hi All: My Benz is a 21 year old 420 SEL with 128,000 mi on it which I bought new. Love this car, but with age comes increasing maintenance costs, so I am trying to learn to do whatever I can to save $, currently I need help in 2 areas:
1. Where can I find the drain plug for changing the coolant?
2. Car doesn't track too well and bumps in road transmit shock into steering wheel. Original 4 shock absorbers replace at 75,000 mi. I have had 3 different recomendations for repair:
a. repalce leaking steering gear box, new tie rods, steering damper and new front shocks
b. replace leaking steering gear box and the linkage that is immediately attached to it and replace ball joints (rubber caps torn)
c. ball joints are OK despite torn rubber caps, tie rods fine, leaking steering gear box still is working fine, but need to replace (?rebuild) idler arm, bushings in R and L brake support arms, and could probably use new shocks since the current Bilsteins are leaking a little. Any advice?
