1984 300D Turbo

I just bought a 1984 300D turbo with 202K miles...strong engine, great blowback test (I didn't know what that meant until the mechanic told me) I love these cars...I had a 1983 back in the 90's and loved that car...I'm hoping this one gives me many more miles...I will have to say the posts here really helped me decide to get the car. It is very sluggish but the mechanic who looked at it said there were a couple of simple things wrong with it...Im looking forward to doing some of the work myself eventually. My question is, what sort of tools should I buy to do minor repair work on this car? I actually have the set of tools that came with the car...those are a good starting point I guess
