Key stuck in ignition flat battery

Hi there, it all began with a flat battery but I don't know if its the cause of my problem. Here it is. My key on my 93 S420 is stuck in the ignition and I can't start the car. The key will turn, but only to the run position. The key can not be removed. I can move the gear selector to Park, Drive and Neutral no problem.

History... I had a flat battery, very flat. I tried to jump the battery ( mistake) but had no success. A friend then pulled my car forward with his car because I had to get to a second car for work. When I got back in the car to remove the key, it would not come out, even with a fully charged battery.

Tried... I have checked all fuses I can find. Boot, under bonnet and module box. No blown fuses. I have checked batteries in both the remote controls I have. Perfect. Please note that when I use the second remote key it will not operate the central locking. I think this is because the other key is in the ignition.

Answer... Have I just got a bad key barrel and the timing was coincided with the flat battery? Have I fired some security mechanism? Have I set off some safety mechanism in the transmission?

Thank you for your thoughts. George.

With a flat battery situation there will be lots of under voltage fault codes set on the computers, you will first of all have to read out the fault codes and clear them then run the diagnostic test again to see which, if any, fault codes come back and this is done using SDS. HHT Software.

Will the car crank, or will it start now with a charged battery?

ERIC.

Thanks Eric, I will have to get the codes read by my mechanic. I don't have the capabilities. With the fully charged battery the car still won't crank. I can't turn the key past the run position. I can't remove the key from the ignition either. The steering is not locked and I believe it won't be until the key is removed from the ignition. I hope the car has locked the key in place as a security measure. George.

I have not worked on the 140 for some years now so I forgot to mention the fuses on top of the GM module, check those, if one blows the ignition will not work.
