Hello All

I own a '52 MB w187 sedan that I rescued from a "hot-rodding" a couple of years ago and poured some money & love into. It is for sale now.

I just purchased a '79 230CE Euro import that I hope to do some restoration work on. It is in need of some rust remediation, a transmission and ??? I got it for a stupid price and am gambling that it is not beyond saving. (my wife loves it)

I am wondering about how difficult it would be to swap a 4-speed out of a 1976 240D into the 230CE. Is it compatible? Will it hurt the value of the car? If originality has little value as the car is not all that rare, maybe I should purchase a late model MB write-off from the insurance company and swap in the entire powerplant/ trans/ harness/ compukers for some more performance?

I am a bit of a muscle car type at heart, but my son just wrecked my '67 Cougar XR7 that I had tricked out for "cone killing". I think the engine in the 230CE would take some serious massaging to be effective in an auto cross.

Advice and constructive criticism is appreciated.
