Fried controller

In my 2008 R Class, I had a new battery installed. A couple of days later, it began to fail. The Dealership discovered a fried controller due to what they described as some old funky water in the car. I go back in a few days to p/u the vehicle. They are saying this will not be warrentied. They installed the new battery. Any insights at all from anyone?? Thanks!

If the car itself is under warranty (2008, right?), shouldn't the dealer be responsible for the fried controller as well?

If the "dealership" referred only to a battery dealer that has nothing to do with your car, or the warranty is expired, then unfortunately yes, the battery was damaged due to outside influence and the replacement is out of warranty (Unless you can demonstrate they are responsible for the fried controller or were negligent in the installation).
