Soft top control module 98 SL500

I'll start with yet another bad experience with the dealer. After removing the hard top for the summer, I found that the soft top only went half way up. I was able to get the top back down but then the roll bar locked up in the up position and the top would no longer work. The roll bar switch also did nothing although I could see a faint red light behind the switch. The blinking red switch to contol the top stayed on. From reading the forum, I was optimistic that it was a simple mater of having the dealer clear the fault codes and I would be on my way. Took it to the dealer where they said this was not the problem and after an hour of labor wanted to keep it longer. I could not leave it with them. A few weeks later I took it back for further diagnostics. After another 3 hours of labor, they informed me I needed a new soft top controller at a price of $2900. No thank you! After I paid them a total of close to $500 for this news, I brought it home and removed the controller and sent to BBA Remanufacturing. I paid them to tell me there was nothing wrong with the after shipping $80. They did tell me that a fault code came up (Hydraulic pump motor overheat) and they cleared it. Dealer should have seen this! So this is where I am at this point. Ready to blast the dealer because I'll never go back anyway. I suppose the next step for me will be to replace the relay located at the pump (the cheaper option at this point). If this doesn't solve the problem, I guess I will need to either replace the pump or send it for repair. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
