08 CLK350 computerized oil level readout ??

It seems all but impossible to get a reading from the dipstick, no matter how often you try as the oil sticks to the side of the tube and obliterates the level measurement taken on the wire stick.
Now I heard from some M-B mechanic that you could set an "OIL LEVEL INDICATOR" to show in the instrument panel what the oil level is.
Fiddling with the paddles got me nowhere and I wonder what was said is actually true?
The problem came to a head as the MB dealer overfilled the engine at an A-Service (9 quarts +). They drained off about a quart after I complained, hours later when I re-checked numerous times it was still too high (above the red max marker).
So I drained off some more but can't get a valid reading, and I hate to guess when oil levels are concerned.
Anyone out there who can offer valid advice??

On my car using the computer I don't see how many quarts are there, I have only seen 4 messages:

ADD 1.0 QT
ADD 2.0 QT

When I press the up arrow on the steering wheel, I think the oil level is the 3rd screen. This should be covered in your owner's manual.
