MAF Sensor - 1999 C230 Kompressor
I have a 1999 c230 Kompressor. About a year ago, check engine light came on and dealership said it was MAF sensor and they cleaned it out and reinstalled. Check engine light then went off. Brought back into dealership a year later, was told again that I need to replace MAF sensor and everything else connected to it for $1348.00. The car has 125,000 and I do not want to pay $1348.00. I just bought on-line a new MAF sensor and it should arrive in a few days. In the meantime, I want to take out the old MAF sensor and clean it with MAF sensor spray. I am pretty handy so I just want to make sure I disconnect the right hose coming off the air intake. Take a look at the photo and tell me whether I disconnect the hose in the front (on right) or the back (on left) coming off the air filter box.
I think I f'ed up the sensor when I oiled up my K&N air filter some time back. Although now when I floor it the car starts to stall out. If I don't floor the gas and the Kompressor does not kick in, it drives fine. Can't pay the $1348.00 the dealership is asking for. No way!!
