Replacing 1998 ML 320 Sun Visor

I'm trying to replace a defected sun visor. I have the new visor, but getting to the where the wires end to remove the old visor (see PIC) seems to be a difficult DIY task.

Can anyone give any advice if this is a possible DIY task, or leave it to the experts.Thx for anyone's advice/help.

Nope, I sure didn't. I don't it's a very straightforward job, but a manual might have helped.

I just spend about an hour trying to disconnect the cable from the sun visor. I can reach the connector through the mounting hole as well as from behind the top panel, but I just can't seem to find the right technique in pulling the connectors apart. Since you seem to have been successful in this, would you mind sharing the trick?

We both reached the same point. I couldn't get the connectors apart. We have the replacement visor...........just going to have the mechanic put it on.

I studied the problem a bit more and went through a few related DIYs. I have mine replaced now. I removed the panel of the A pillar. This allows to pull the top panel a bit more and you get better access to the connector from behind. I pulled the connector back until I could see it and used a screwdriver for prying on the clip that holds them. After this the connectors disconnect easily and installation of the new sun visor is straight forward by going in the reverse order. Took about 20 minutes.

I summarized the steps and added an entry to the DIY section of the W163 class. I reused your picture for illustration. See here:
