Post Cycle Rack

Hi. Can anyone help me. I have a 1989 Mercedes 230 SLK Kompressor.

I often need to carry my bicycle- at present this involves dismantling the wheels and handlebars and putting it into the boot (trunk)

I have a tow-ball fitting cycle rack from my old car and am trying to see if it possible or safe to fit a tow-ball to the SLK-- This would never be used for towing, just for carrying my lightweight bicycle.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have read that the car was never designed with towing in mind so understand that there is no STANDARD fitting kit available.

Please help if you can.
