Dealership forgot to tighten my suspension nut
I recently brought in my Merc for a roadworthy inspection at the nearest dealership. I wanted to check them out, so I felt this test provided an ideal time to suss them out.
Anyway, test was concluded, I require replacement lenses for indicators on mirrors and an indicator stalk as it jams up a little when turning right. I was quoted $1200 including the installation.
A little pricey, I know. I did not take them up on their offer, and I will purchase the parts and debate whether to go back to have them installed and pass the test without further expense ($160) or replace it myself and go elsewhere for another test.
My main gripe though, is upon inspection of the vehicle when I got it back home, was the suspension on the passenger side was very loose and the black rubber cap was resting on the engine bay on the right side.
I can confirm it was not loose before I took it in, so I'm wondering why it was loosened to begin with, and how they missed tightening it when done. There was also a long plastic clip that kind of looks like it holds a cable. I do not know what this is for, where it is from, but this was sitting along with the black cap.
The car is a W203 C Class.
The guy from the dealership said it may have come loose when they hoisted the car up, but that doesn't really explain when the black cap had been placed near the fuse box. He did not know what the plastic clip might have been.
I'm surprised he didn't check with his mechanics and get back to me. Even an apology. I mean it was no trouble for me to tighten it, by comparing it with the drivers side one, I still don't know about the plastic clip.
My question is, should I consider going back to potentially save my $160? Along with my phone conversation with them, I've also sent them an email for a further explanation, which I've heard nothing (it's been only 2 days). Should I turn my back on this dealership and stick with independents?
