83' 300 Turbo Diesel Wiring Air conditioning ??

We have an 83 300 TD and we have recently had a lot of A/C work done on it. When the A/C engaged there was always a strong pull on the engine, yesterday while driving to work there was no pull but the A/C ran fine. Then going out for lunch the A/C had ceased to work. Blows the same as vent but no cold air. Poking around in the engine compartment investigating today I found this white colored wire that had become disengaged form somewhere. Can any one tell me what it connect to, I can not find a diagram/ photo that helps.
