My name is James but call me megafr0 or just fr0. I live in Minneapolis, MN. I'm Not new to car forums or forums in general. I Recently picked up a 1992 Mercedes 190E (W201). 2.3 SOHC 8V with a 4 speed auto. Car currently is sitting on Bilstein Sport Dampers and 16" BBS RS' on Yokohama ES 205/16 fronts and 225/16 in the rear. RS' are factory drilled and correct offsets.
Only other "mods" it has is a new Radiator with a custom bracketed Volvo 14" electric fan hooked up to an electric relay that kicks the fan into high mode above 88*C.
The Automatic is clunking through gears and the issue was believed to vacuum leaks but the after the previous owner chased all those down it still clunks. Could be the vacuum control module, could be the transmission will blow up eventually. I've got a full 5 speed swap getting ready to go on it.
She leaks a bit of oil but what car that's 20 years old doesn't? I'm going to check the lines and inspect the fuel pump to chase down the leak.
Future mod plans are tinted windows, a new front grill (there are some other OEM grills that fit right on the 190E) and the 5 speed swap once the auto completely goes. New headlights, fogs and bulbs to keep the night bright. Then a stereo system since I just have two front tweeters and a tape deck... :-o
Car has quite the faded patina on it. I actually rather like the look and the car is from Florida now up here in Minnesota so there's no rust on the body
