My First Merc
well i've grown up with quite a few mercedes. my stepfather was in the used car business and we always had nice car in the driveway.
i've driven honda accords, which we have two. an '87 and '02. i also have a datsun 280Z which i'm debating on whether or not i have time for.
more recently i had an '05 subaru legacy GT. had exhaust work and a Cobb stage II tune. that was a nice little car, and very rediculously fast. i had a new engine and clutch put in soon after getting it, but unfortunately someone swerved into the front end and ruined the car.
my last car was an '01 bmw 740i, last year of the E38. this was by far my favorite car that i've owned. i had it for about 2 1/2 years. it was a wonderful car that was relatively cheap to maintain and easy to work on the the most part. it was pretty fast as well. but about a two months ago i wrecked it. it ate a tree. so yeah, that car was done. i did however take the 19" wheels off since i plan to get another E38.
now for my newest car, a W126. its a '91 420SEL. it has about 159000 miles and is in good shape for what i paid for it. has a few little rust spots that i can easily fix, but they really arent too noticeable unless i point them out. basically everything works on this car and has been fairly well taken care of. drive decently for a 20 year old car and is very comfortable to drive around in.
as far as myself, i am in the business of auto parts. i like to work on cars and do restoration type work. i plan to make my W126 into something special.
my plans for the car are to put an SEC front end on, replace most of the rubber suspension bits, drop it on some H&R springs and add something like AMG wheels. nothing over the top. just something that looks a little more dramatic than a stock W126 sedan.
i really want an SEC though, always wanted a coupe. but i have yet to find one for the right price or in decent shape for a good price. the last one i looked at was cherry. an '85 500SEC, but they wanted $10000, which is rediculous.
i'll be posting some pictures of my car in the W126 section.
BTW am comming from bimmerfest.com, that was my main place with my E38
