Question New Owner-New to Site Need Help!

Hello All,
So glad this site exist!
Just purchased a '08 C300 4matic. Very excited! However it dissipated when I drove it home, opened the trunk, and noticed a new part was in there. It was a cable harness!

What is the part used for?

Are there warning signs that I should look for now that will signal its replacement?

Is this covered under the Mercedes original warranty of 50,000?

Is this a serious question?

It was probably left there by mistake by the previous owner. Why do you think that it is a part of your car?

If it is a new part I suppose it is in MB packaging? If you have less than 4 years or 50,000 miles you should still be within the new car warranty period. They follow the car and don't disappear when sold.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the replies.
@ keyhole. Yes I am serious! Why would such an expensive part be "hidden" in the trunk of the car. The dealership purchased this item. Theres information on the packaging that has them listed as the buyer. Im sure they didnt purchase it for the fun of it.
Even if the previous owner bought it. There is still cause for concern, because no one goes around buying parts for a car just because. They buy them because there is a need.

Well, the most obvious thing is to call the dealership and ask them if they meant to leave this item in your trunk. It certainly is not a 'spare' like your spare wheel - if you have one.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

ok thanks... maybe its just bad nerves. First time buying a used car. Scared to death that something is wrong that the warranty wont cover.

Thanks again.
