Why don't you try to clean the mass air flow sensor? CRC makes a MAF cleaner in a spray can that might help, at least for a while. If you are careful that can't hurt anything. After 11 years and 100,000 miles it could well be going bad. Try a search on the SLK-Class forum and you should find some instructions.

BTW people are asking "hot or cold" to see if it is your crankshaft position sensor (commonly abbreviated CPS or KPS). If it only happened when hot that would probably be the problem. As it is, that seems less likely.

Hi there

I have justed joined and I have just purchased my first Merc, but I have a problem that I hope you guys might be able to help me with.

Its a mercedes c class c220 cdi 2002 automatic UK model 98,000 miles and the problem is that it keeps going into limp home mode and nothing shows up on my dash board. It does it quite a bit mainly when I accelerate fairly hard. and then it wont go above 3000rpm. Any ideas guys im really worried that I have been ripped off, and it is such a shame as I have wanted one of these all my life and I want to keep it, also i have been told to use some 10k boost spray??? would this have an effect on the cat? I have just paid a local garage £150 to put in a new maf sensor and it has made no difference but he said the car needs to get used to it in about 40 miles, is this true?

You could try at MBClub UK if there are any forum members living near you who could read codes with Star diagnosis from your car. There are many different options for your issue, MAF could have been one but seems like it wasn't your problem.
