Which car is a better buy?

I am currently debating between two cars as my first Benz.. I dont have much experience with the market trend so I would love some input into which unit is the better buy.

#1 - C300 premium pack without navigation. 10,000 km's. This is buying from the Benz dealership.. the overall price - after taxes - is $45,000

#2 - C350 Navigation pack. 28,000 km's. Private seller.. After taxes $42,500.

Both are black color with black interior. Seems like an easy choice as the c350 is cheaper than the 300 plus it has navigation. The mileage however is higher but it seems less concerning to me. The owner reports one break-in which ICBC has fully repaired the damages.

I did place down a 1000$ deposit for car #1 (car #2 just came into the picture today). But I do have the option of getting my deposit back at the dealership.

Are there any issues with buying from a private seller? What are some areas I should inspect from the private seller before buying?

Thanks for all your help!

What country are you in? Otherwise it's hard to judge the prices.

Australian dollars? Canadian? Zimbabwean?

With Mercedes, I usually favor low miles FWIW.

We would also need to know how much factory warranty remains on each. Time not just miles. (Or kilometres in your case.)

There is scarcely anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse, and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey. --John Ruskin

Sorry, I thought I added that information. I live in Vancouver Canada, which I've been told that typically its more pricey. The warranty on both is identical, 5 year left powertrain 3 years otherwise. Im more inclined at this moment to buy the c300 as it is way lower mileage and it is from an official benz dealer so if there are any issues I know where to go. Navigation package isnt that big of a deal to me as I have my own & I know my city well..

Do you guys think I am getting good value for car #1?

Get which ever one you like more. The KM's/price are close. If you can't decide just wait and relist your priorities. I'd never buy a car without knowing it's exactly what I wanted. With a private seller you essentially just bring them a check from whoever loaned you the money. Don't let them talk you into bringing cash or anything along those lines. You'll probably be fine, for whatever reason it seems like a big deal to sellers with cars worth less than $15k...
