Air circulation light blinking (warning?)89 560sel

Hello, last night while driving home (89 560sel) the air circulation red light blinked on and off constantly for about 15 minutes while blowing hot air and not allowing me to put on the fan or the a/c. I could not find such a warning in the owners manual. All went back to normal after car was shut off and driven again. It did not overheat or show any signs of any thing else being wrong. All was fine as I drove it today. If anyone can explain what this meant please respond so I will know what to look for if it happens again. I hope this thread will help others also. Thank you very much. Frank

I read about others that had this problem and no one knew for sure but the alternator getting bad was one possible reason as well as fuses or other reason for low voltage connected with sticking mono valve. You would think that a Mercedes mechanic or guru would know for sure since this seems to be a specific warning light that Mercedes Benz made for a reason.
