this site has saved me!
i purchased a 95 sl500 a few years back. i was not a benz person but this car kept showing up in the parking lot of my office with for sale sign. i just couldn't resist. 45k original miles and perfect condition. since then i only had one problem. the Top Hydraulics started to leak. the dealer wanted $2000.00 to replace. i am not very mechanically inclined but do know that Hydraulic seals are not that difficult to replace (with the right tools). i starting searching and found this site.
I found Top Hydraulics and purchased a rebuilt set of Hydraulic cylinders with the lock assembly included. I did not want to pull the car apart and have too wait to get my cylinders rebuilt so i chose the option of paying a refundable core charge for the complete assemblies. this made the process so much easier and quicker. it only took about 1 1/2 hours from staret to finsih. was able to take a nice long ride the same day.
i have returned the cores and core refund will be issued as they receive. them. they even included a return priority mail envelope with everything needed for the return it was so easy i was sceptical but Top Hydraulics did everything they claimed. I even called Klaus for some advise and it was spot on.
i would add that if you need to flush your old fluid out of the system, suck the reservior dry then flush with new fluid. it will save you a quart or two of the new fluid. use a turkey baster and wash down the reservior a few times to remove the gunk!
thanks again for ther great site and kudos to Top Hydraulics. what a resource.
