You could get serious and post in or search the W209 CLK Class Forum.

A simple search on "loud fan a/c" in that forum found a number of interesting posts such as Fan sounds like jet engine '04 CLK 500. Consensus is that it's normal.

You're welcome.

People tend to reply only if they have information for you, and with thousands of members on at any given moment, and this being posted in the general forum where most people will have no familiarity with your car, I am not surprised that the first 15 people didn't have any input. Car problems can be frustrating, but be realistic in your expectations to ensure a pleasurable time on Benzworld.

Bearings at the shaft? If there's a fan clutch maybe that? Later.

can it be because of different coolant that was put in there? prior to me hitting the deer. the coolant was blue and now its yellow. would anybody suggest water wetter for the engine to run cooler?

My 2004 CLK500 "takes off" when the a/c is on max... I've seen other posts about the sound. I don't like it, but I've decided it's normal. It doesn't sound like a bad bearing or anything like that. Just extremely high RPM's of the fan, at least in my opinion (and on my car).

My 2006 CLS sounded the same way! My 2008 CLK also. Went to the dealer twice and it is normal. Only happens when you press the max ac. If you just push the fan button it will not do it. Hate it but it's normal!
