Windsor Stealership

Let me tell you about my experience with Overseas Motors in Windsor. I went in for an alignment appt. at 8:00 AM on a Monday. At 10:00 the service adviser approached me and told me that one lower control arm was "shot" and the other was failing. I asked "how much" and he said that because there were 2 different control arms for my year (2003 S500 4Matic) he would need to call Mercedes for pricing but he would get back to me later in the day. Later in the day he called back and quoted $1,800 per side including labor. I had originally gone in because of what I perceived as a cupping noise coming from the front.

I then called a local garage to ask about checking my alignment. I went in and they allowed me in the service bays to watch. We tried everything possible to create play in the lower control arms. THERE WAS NO PLAY. The service tech suggested we take a test drive. He felt during the test drive the problem could be a separated tire belt. We returned and rotated the tires. Sure enough the problem was now on the rear.

I put a new set of tires on the vehicle and it now rides like new. To be fair I called the dealer and spoke with the General Manager who promised to investigate and get back to me. A month has passed and no word from Overseas Motors. This leads me to believe that the alignment tech is either incompetent or crooked.

I will never return to Overseas Motors. Beware!

That's terrible! I wouldn't give them a 2nd chance either, and at least the GM could have done was return your call with a "I don't know what happened". They owe you at least a free car wash and a couple of cappucinos!

Did you have wheel alignment done after new tires were put in?
The LCA problem might be there if wheel alignment couldn't be done.

According to the 2nd shop it didn't need an alignment. The car tracks true and straight and rides like new with the new tires.

The 2nd shop said no need for wheel alignment with the old tires then one tire turned out to be bad.
With the new tires, no need for alignment because the car tracks true and straight by feeling when driving?

I think all shops should retire their computerized wheel alignment equipment.
