Sluggish ML320 (W163)
I have a 2000 ML320 that went well for a long time, and has recently not been accelerating like it used to. I was travelling on a motorway, and needed to get a bit of speed uphill, when I dropped down into 3rd and floored it...this resulted in what felt like the engine firing on just 5 or 4 cylinders. I pulled over, and ten minutes later, started up again, and all went well. I have noticed on inclines, there is very little to no acceleration, and my fuel consumption has increased...I'm getting less miles per tank..alot less !
I replaced all the coil-packs and fitted a new MAF sensor. Before I start spending stupid money on plugs, leads, fuel pump, etc. and all of the labour costs included, I'd like to make sure I'm not spending money where I donot need to.
Will a bad fuel pump or actuator result in poor mpg ?
I'm waiting for a 38pin to 16pin OBD-2 adapter to arrive. I have a bluetooth OBD plug that my phone connects to and I use Torque's OBD Check on my Android to pull of the faults. This works well on my VW Golf, and I'm hoping it would work just as well on my wife's ML...
Anyways, any pointers on what to do next would be greatly appreciated.
