1991 Mercedes 300e - Problem with Acceleration When Driven First Time Every Day
I have had this problem for a couple of years now. A few fixes have temporarily helped the problem, but it's worse now there ever before.
Every day when I start the car and drive it after 5-15 minutes of driving I begin to have problems with acceleration. When I come to a stop the RPS's drop way down, the car idles rough and feels like it wants to die. When I accelerate the car will either die out completely or slowly (very slowly) accelerate. Usually when it dies is when I press the gas peddle half way down, but when I gently press it, speed picks up very slowly. Also, when I let the car sit for more than 2 days, I'll have a hard time starting it all (will crank but won't start). It takes 10-15 minutes of turning the engine over and sometimes longer before it starts.
What I've done so far using this forum as advice.
Replaced the Spark Plugs (fixed the problem when I couldn't start the car. It cranked but didn't fire) after a 6 day vacation
The problem came back. I then replaced the Cap and Rotor and Spark Plugs. This also fixed the problem for a while. I went out of town again for a week and...
The problem came back. It turned over but didn't start so I pulled off the Cap and Rotor and saw moisture within it. I cleaned/sanded the metal connectors, pulled out the spark plugs and cleaned them also, replaced the air filter and used carb cleaner. After an hour of trying to get the car to turn over it did. I let it run for about 10 minutes and it began to boggle out and proceeded to die on me. I let the car sit for about an hour and it started up great with no problems.
Note: Every morning after this last fix I have been required to run my car for 10 minutes and let it sit immediately after for 30 minutes before I can drive it otherwise it will die on me at a stop. After doing this the car will run great all day until I start it the next day.
Does anyone have any suggestions. I was thinking of changing out the coil next. I was thinking it could also be the fuel filter/fuel pump and/or fuel lines.
Please help with any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
