GLK 350 Transmission needs to be replaced at 10k miles
I have a 2010 GLK with 10 000 miles (16 000 km) on it. Thus far I have really liked it. One of the initial things that I noticed about it was that it was a pretty quiet vehicle. Until about 2 weeks ago I noticed this humming sound that would intensify once you hit around 50 mph/80 kmh. I took the vehicle into a Mercedes dealership a week ago and they said it was the wheel bearings so they replaced them. It was quite obvious that they never did test drive the vehicle after as the noise was still there. I took my vehicle in again yesterday except this time they said that they need to replace the transmission and that Mercedes had authorized this replacement very quickly. The service rep implied that this must be a somewhat frequent event as the approval came back very quickly.
Has anyone heard about this type of situation before? I am a first time Mercedes owner and this has me a bit concerned as I am wondering if I have a lemon.
I do take care of my vehicles. I am in my mid-30s so it is not as if I have been bagging this vehicle.
