'83 240D with grease and "quirks" :)

Hello all,
I just bought my first Benz and grease car. It has all of what I'm discovering are the usual bugs: mysterious puddles of water that appear in various places, power windows with no power, doors that don't lock and others that don't open, etc.
Why, you might ask, did I buy it in the first place? Because it has a working grease system, appears to be very solid with minor rust, and starts, runs, drives and stops (not well, needs brakes). It's a Mercedes non-turbo diesel; what could go wrong? Actually, that's not just a rhetorical question. I know these cars can go
500, 600, 700k with proper maintenance, but is there anything in particular with this model that I need to be careful of?
I'm sure that there will be many questions and head scratchers to come, but I think the car is pretty cool looking and have always liked that model. Plus, once I get my #$^@ together, I should be driving the grease for cheap.
P.S. The car's name is Simon because its previous owner was a resturant with that name in the title and that's the official name of my dog (he hasn't gone by it in years).
