'89 420 SEl rear CV boots

I am working on a recently acquired 1989 420 SEL. The car looks to be in good shape but the CV boots on the rear axle shafts are shot, both sides inner and outer, but especially the inners. On most Front Drive vehicles now days I just buy a remanufactered axle assembly and replace the whole thing, but I didn't see any obvious way to get this one out.

Has anyone replaced these boots? What's involved? I'm not sure the condition of the joints, but they don't appear to be noisy, so new grease and boots may work. Even though I'm a fairly competent mechanic, I haven't figured how to remove the rear axles on this vehicle. Thanks for your help.

you will have a lot more luck in the w126 section. I would avoid a lot of off-brand/reman. parts especially for a w126 Mercedes. The w126 is a great model but is getting pretty old so expect some suspension/engine work. The OEM replacement parts on Autohausaz.com are durable, well built parts, but a bit pricey. However they pay off and you should have another great beast to add to benzworlds w126 lineup
