1995 E300 Deisal Overheating

My car has been using lots of antifreeze. Every other week I fill up the container but I don't see any apparent antifreeze leak.

Started couple of days ago, engin is overheating when I am stuck in traffic but it runs OK when driving on normal speed on a highway.

I like to get a good idea as to what is wrong with it before I go to mechanic.

Any ideas please!!!!!!!

Sounds like you may have a bad head gasket.

Check the oil and see if there is a white substance in it or if it appears milky.

check the oil for brown foam

if the oil looks fine and the engine bay doesn't smell like antifreeze then your engine is drinking it through through the combustion chamber and sending it out the tailpipe
